9/21/16 • Madison, WI • Private Madison Montessori School Applying to Become Public Charter
9/21/16 • Madison, Wisconsin • Isthmus Montessori Academy, a private, tuition-based AMI Montessori school serving 75 children ages two months to fifteen years, is a week away from hearing whether its years-long charter application process will move to the next and final step. Founded in 2012 with the explicit goal of becoming Madison’s first public Montessori school, Isthmus has been negotiating with Madison Public Schools since 2012, and submitted its latest formal proposal to the School Board on Monday, September 19th. The Board will vote next Monday, the 26th, on whether to move forward with the plan for a September, 2017 opening. More on this story as it develops.
