5/8/2021 • Cincinnati, Ohio • Gamble Montessori High School, part of Cincinnati Public Schools, has been named a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School.
The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools program recognizes schools and districts that:
- reduce environmental impact and costs
- improve the health and wellness of schools, students, and staff
- provide effective environmental and sustainability education
Green Ribbon schools are committed to sustainable practices. A press release from the district quotes Andrea Suarez Falken, director, U.S. Department of Education, Green Ribbon Schools “…We commend your school for its leadership in facilities, health and environmental education. Your school is representative of promising practices to improve achievement and equity, not only for aspiring green schools, but for all schools”.
- 2012: The STAR School, a public charter school in Flagstaff, Arizona, founded in 2007
- 2013: Douglas County School District, in Castle Rock, Colorado, which includes DCS Montessori School, a public charter school founded in 1997
- 2013: The School District of Palm Beach County, in West Palm Beach, Florida, which includes S.D. Spady Elementary School, (a public district school), Montessori Academy of Early Enrichment, (a public charter school), and Northboro Elementary School, (a public magnet school)
- 2013: Des Moines Independent Community School District, in Des Moines, Iowa, which includes Cowles Montessori School, a public district school
- 2013: Racine Montessori School, a private school in Racine, Wisconsin, founded in 1963
- 2014: Boulder Valley School District, in Boulder, Colorado which includes Community Montessori, a public district school founded in 1995
- 2014: Broward County Public Schools, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which includes Virginia Shuman Young Montessori (a public district school), Sunrise Middle School (a public magnet school), Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Montessori Academy (a public magnet school), Atlantic Montessori Charter School (a public charter school), and Beachside Montessori Village (a public magnet school).
- 2015: Odyssey Charter School, a public charter school in Palm Bay, Florida, founded in 1999.
- 2015: Cambridge Public Schools, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which includes Tobin Montessori School, a public district school which became fully Montessori in 2012.
- 2016: San Francisco Unified School District, in San Francisco, California, which includes San Francisco Public Montessori Elementary School, a public district school founded in 2009.
- 2016: Poudre School District, in Fort Collins, Colorado, which includes Fort Collins Montessori School, a public charter school founded in 2014.
- 2016: Wilmington Montessori School, a private school in Wilimington, Delaware, founded in 1963
- 2016: Beachside Montessori Village, a public magnet school in Hollywood, Florida.
- 2016: Orange County School District, in Orlando, Florida, which includes Innovation Montessori Ocoee, a public charter school founded in 2011.

- 2017: Chiaravalle Montessori School, a private school in Evanston, Illinois founded in 1965.
- 2017: The School District of Philadelphia, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which includes Philadelphia Montessori Charter School, a public charter school founded in 2004.
- 2017: Discovery Elementary, a public district school in Arlington, Virginia.
- 2020: Ursuline Academy, a private school in Wilmington, Delaware founded in 1895.
- 2020: Hamilton Southeastern Schools, in Fishers, Indiana, which includes Geist Montessori, a public charter school since 2006.
- 2020: Montessori Children’s House, a private school in Redmond, Washington, founded in 1987.
